Reaching Out is the annual conference of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) graduate business school students. This year, 1,000 students, business leaders, and recruiters are expected to gather from October 15 thru October 18 at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in downtown Atlanta.
The conference will present a dynamic line-up of industry speakers and workshop panelists representing all sectors of the business community, from finance and marketing to government and the arts. The conference will feature several elements, including a dedicated Career Management Center at the hotel and a mentorship program to encourage lasting relationships between students and professionals.
The 2009 theme is Emerging as Leaders with the Phoenix as the conference’s logo. Atlanta adopted the phoenix as a symbol of rebirth in the late 1800s, and, over the past century, the city has risen as a global force in the business world. Twelve years ago, Reaching Out MBA, Inc. began to provide LGBT business school students a resource to make connections with other LGBT students and business professionals. LGBT professionals have made great strides towards equality, but given the uncertain economic times, building networks and our leadership abilities is more important than ever. The 2009 Reaching Out LGBT MBA Conference provides future LGBT leaders from around the world the opportunity to come together to network, learn, and improve their skills so they will emerge stronger and more confident in the business world. For businesses, this gives them the opportunity to show support for the LGBT community and find top level talent.
