How can I get an access code as a student?

There are two ways to get an access code:

  1. Through your on-campus LGBT+ club if it is an Affiliate of Reaching Out. Don’t know the club leaders? Email us and we’ll introduce you.
  2. By completing this online application. Note if you are applying from a school with an LGBT+ affiliate club, we will refer you to the club leaders rather than review the application.

I am not LGBT+, should I come?

The ROMBA Conference is for current, alumni and prospective LGBT+ business students. We want to keep the conference an inclusive environment for both LGBT+ students and active allies alike.

While active allies are welcome, this may not be the best recruiting opportunity for you as many companies are looking specifically for LGBT+  talent.

When and where do I access the virtual event?

Our virtual community, where all ROMBA sessions will take place, will open in mid-September, a couple of weeks before conference kick off. You’ll receive an email letting you know when it’s open and providing access. The email will come to the address used in your registration. All relevant registration data will be migrated into your profile – you’ll just need to upload a photo!

How will the virtual event be different from the in-person conferences in past years?

Our goal is to provide all the benefits of our in-person conference – you can still expect great panels and workshops, plenaries with inspiring speakers, an expansive big career expo, lots of  networking opportunities, and much more.

What’s new this year? The conference will last five days (yes, Zoom fatigue is a thing!). Since our event will be virtual, we’re adding some new pre-conference programming, drop-in networking sessions for less structured meetings, and some great virtual social events!

How will recruiting be different this year? Do you have any suggestions for navigating the career expo (both prepping and during the expo)?

This year the career expo will take place over 2 days, for 2.5 hours each day (October 8 and 9). In addition, corporate partners will have access to all resumes in the resume database on GradLeaders and will start reaching out to those will will be recruiting prior to the conference’s start.

At the expo itself (which will run through our conference app), you can enter virtual exhibitor booths and meet with company reps to answer any questions you may have.

We suggest that all students and alumni who wish to recruit register for the conference and upload their resumes as soon as possible (you can always update your resume later if you’d like), to ensure that corporate partners have access to it well before the conference start date.

Will there be interviewing at the virtual event?

You bet! The majority of companies that have expo booths at the career fair are actively recruiting. Many of those companies will be interviewing during the conference (either directly on our platform via Zoom or on their own meeting service), but it’s entirely possible that interviews could happen after the conference ends as well.

Can I post my resume in advance?

Absolutely! After you register, you’ll have an opportunity to upload your resume to GradLeaders (our resume database program) that recruiters are able to see before the conference. As previously stated, we suggest uploading your resume as soon as possible!

I am an exhibitor or sponsor - how do I register? Set up my expo booth?

As a sponsor, you should have received an email detailing your registration comp and discount codes and registration instructions. Please enter that code upon registration for your sponsor rates.

Starting in late August, Reaching Out will offer training materials on how to set up expo booths and interact with our conference platform, Pathable. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Paul Thaler, Director of Development (pthaler@reachingoutmba.org).

I'm interested in a particular field - will there be sessions I'm interested in?

At ROMBA, we try to offer a wide variety of sessions to interest conference attendees. This year our session tracks include finance, consulting, marketing, technology, media and entertainment, healthcare, social impact, pre-MBA, professional, and women’s only sessions.
