Club Leadership Summit

Prior to the LGBTQ+ MBA Club Leadership Summit, we will be hosting a happy hour for the entire ROMBA community at Alma Cocina Buckhead. This is your opportunity to build personal and professional connections, find a new role or a mentor, hire top-notch talent, and have some fun! Everyone in the ROMBA community is invited to join the club leaders, staff, and Board members to kick off the Summit. Club leaders's tickets are included with their Summit registration. Food and drink tickets will be provided.

Welcome to the 2024 Club Leadership Summit! Club Leaders will hear from the Program team, Nick Bailey & Kari Perez, about the day's activities, and engage in an interactive get-to-know-you game, led by student organizer, Brian Kendrick.

This plenary workshop is tailored for MBA students and professionals, focusing on the critical aspects of inclusive and impactful queer leadership within the business context. This session includes a panel with ROMBA board members. Participants will explore strategies to navigate the intersectionality of identity, advocate for diversity in business settings, and foster inclusive environments conducive to professional growth and organizational success.

In this session, club leaders will have the opportunity to network with leaders from other schools, exchanging best practices, strategies, and challenges to planning out their club’s events and activities throughout the year. Following this exchange, leaders will have time to begin defining their goals for the upcoming year, integrating insights gained from their peers into the planning process.

In a world where the visibility and support of LGBTQ+ clubs within academic institutions are more critical than ever, this session delves into effective strategies for marketing your club to attract allies, administration, and external support. Combining practical marketing tactics with relationship-building strategies, club leaders will learn how to enhance their visibility, entice and maintain allied members, and establish fruitful partnerships with alumni, administration, and community organizations. Through a mix of presentation, interactive discussion, and workshop elements, participants will leave equipped to elevate their clubs' profiles and secure the external support vital for their growth and impact.

The three club finalists will present their pitches in a chance to win $5,000 for their club. All student club leader attendees will vote for the club of their choosing.

This session is a creative and dynamic workshop designed to empower leaders with the tools and insights necessary for making the most out of the ROMBA conference. Through a mix of brief presentations, interactive brainstorming exercises, and group discussions, participants will delve into key aspects of conference preparation and follow-up, including financing strategies, networking skills, and crafting an effective game plan for navigating the career expo. This session aims to equip participants with practical strategies to implement for the incoming class who have never attended a ROMBA conference, making sure they are not overwhelmed with all the goings at the conference and leave with some lasting, productive memories and connections.

How can you keep up your engagement and leadership in LGBTQ+ advocacy initiatives after leaving the structured world of an MBA program? How can you support and empower queer coworkers on their best days and worst? Join us as we sit down with Atlanta-area LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group leaders and discuss vision, community, and your next steps after graduation.

Reaching Out staff will share ways for club leaders to stay connected post-summit.

Join us for a final dinner for all Summit attendees to close out the 2024 Leadership Summit.
